OPEN DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN II - LICENSED ELECTRICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Critical Facilities Technician I is responsible for the operations, repair, and maintenance of critical facilities infrastructure supporting IT compute environments
including, electrical, mechanical, plumbing/piping equipment, machinery and controls located across the data center campus inside and outside. Assigned to 24x7x365
operations team, technician monitors operations, assesses building systems operations, performs routine planned and reactive maintenance and repairs, and reports
status to facilities management team. Performs a routine and ongoing assessment of the building systems, operations, and performance. This role performs tests,
rounds, and analyzes data to ensure the proper functioning of critical infrastructure systems and equipment. The role is also responsible for assisting customers,
vendors, subcontractor support personnel throughout the data center both in person and via the telephone while engaged in performing work. Manage tickets within
the ticketing system, communicating and escalating alerts and customer requests to management team. This role requires on-site work hours to support a 24X7X365
data center environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Shift operator. Primarily responsible for shift operations, monitoring and responding to changes in operational status of critical infrastructure. Record and report
issues, emergency response, and light routine planned and corrective maintenance. Maintains, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance on mechanical and
electrical equipment; records readings and adjusts where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Operation and maintenance of routine and emergency services on a various of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution
equipment, chillers, computer room air handlers, rooftop HVAC, building monitoring systems, etc. required; assists other team members with major repairs and
maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment.
• Process work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance on critical, building, and site infrastructure. Assists facility manager and other team members to
ensure necessary tools and equipment are available as required to complete all maintenance and perform necessary work.
• Utilize site CMMS system to create and/or update service tickets related to maintenance and repairs and record critical facility issues and related alerts.
• Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
• Perform all operations and maintenance protocols meeting safety, maintenance, and operations standards including but not limited to established OSHA, ASHRAE,
NETA, NEC, NFPA and Equipment OEM standards
• Must be hands on and walk site to observe, respond and direct teams as appropriate.
• Capable to lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently and/or assist others in lifts over 40 pounds.
• Capability to assist associate technical teams with physical, lifting, moving, adjusting, climbing, crouching etc. in the performance of maintenance and repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment, commercial utilities Plant operations or 4+ years equivalent Technical
(Military/Trade School) training and/or experience
• 4+ years of experience with advanced understanding of the electrical or mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: Utility feeders,
transformers, generators, switchgear, power distribution, UPS systems, ATS units. PDU units, HVAC Chillers, pumps, air handling units and CRAC units and rooftop
HVAC systems.
• 4+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving, reading and understanding schematics and building drawings
• High School Diploma or Equivalent GED.
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe, and other basic administrative tools
